Anders Sandøe Ørsted [ ˈœrsdɛð ] (born December 21, 1778 in Rudkøbing ; † May 1, 1860 ) was a Danish politician and lawyer . From 1853 to 1854 he held the office of the Danish Prime Minister .

Life

Anders Sandøe Ørsted was the brother of the physicist Hans Christian Ørsted and the uncle of the botanist Anders Sandøe Ørsted .

Anders Sandøe Ørsted held several positions from 1834. He was the first deputy in the Danish chancellery, from 1825 he was also procurator general, from 1841 secret conference council and from 1842 secret minister of state while retaining his previous offices. As a result of the March unrest of 1848 , he had to resign like his colleagues from his offices.

In 1853 he was elected to the Basic Legislative Assembly and to the Landsthing . In the same year he was appointed Prime Minister on April 21, 1853. At the same time, he also administered the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of the Interior and later the Ministry of Justice. During his tenure, constitutional laws were drawn up for Lauenburg, Schleswig and Holstein, some of which had different characters. The purpose of these laws was to introduce constitutional unity in the Danish state and to establish it as a nation state . On July 26, 1854 this bill was completed. The opposition in the Reichstag was too strong and forced Anders Sandøe Ørsted to resign on December 12, 1854. In addition, she filed a ministerial indictment before the Reichsgericht, which ended on February 28, 1856 with an acquittal.

Anders Sandøe Ørsted died in 1860 at the age of 81 and found his final resting place on Frederiksberg Ældre Kirkegård in Frederiksberg Municipality on the island of Zealand .
