Astrid Krag Kristensen (born November 17, 1982 in Vejle ) is a Danish politician of the Social Democrats and has been Minister of Social Affairs and the Interior since June 27, 2019. Before that, she was Minister for Health and Prevention from 2011 to 2014.

Life

The daughter of a copywriter and a grammar school teacher worked from 2001 to 2002 as a pedagogical assistant in the kindergarten of Frederiksberg Hospital after attending the Tørring Amtsgymnasium, of which she was a member between 1999 and 2001 . During this time she was already involved in the Socialist People's Party (SF) and ran in the Folketing elections in 2001 and 2005 in the Vejle constituency . She also became involved in the asylum and refugee policy, and from 2002 to 2003 Annual Leading editor of on the Balkan appearing magazine Dijalog .

Between 2003 and 2007 she studied in a bachelor -Studiengang political science at the University of Copenhagen . At the same time she was a student assistant at the Social and Health School in Copenhagen from 2003 to 2005 . Between 2005 and 2007, Krag chaired the SF youth organization , and since 2006 she has been a member of its integration working group. In 2007 she worked as a nurse in the Amager district and as an editor for the magazine Virak . In 2007 she became a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the SF in Copenhagen.

In the 2007 Folketing election , Astrid Krag was elected member of the Folketing and has since represented the constituency of Sjællands Storkreds . During this time she was both spokeswoman for the SF for Integration, Asylum, Citizenship and Seniors as well as Vice-Chair of the Folketing Committee for Immigration and Integration Policy. In addition, she was temporarily a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Social Committee. Most recently, she was vice-chairman of the SF group in the Folketing.

On October 3, 2011, she was appointed Minister-President Helle Thorning-Schmidt as Minister for Health and Prevention in the newly formed government. In October 2012 she ran for the SF party chairmanship, but had to admit defeat after a membership decision by her competitor Annette Vilhelmsen . After the SF terminated the governing coalition on January 30, 2014, it joined the Social Democrats.

Astrid Krag is married to the rapper Andreas Seebach ( artist name AndyOp). The couple has three children.
