Folk election 2005
The 2005 Folketing election was the 65th election to the Danish parliament, the Folketing . It took place on February 8, 2005 .
The election was announced on January 18, 2005 by the incumbent Minister of State Anders Fogh Rasmussen ( Venstre ).
The election did not result in any major changes in the parliamentary situation, with the Venstre- Conservative coalition (the “UK government”) retaining a majority together with the Dansk Folkeparti . Despite the large number of voters who lost their votes, Det Radikalische Venstre was unable to obtain enough seats to form an alternative majority with the government. For the Danish Social Democrats it was a record defeat at the level of the 1973 Folketing election , the so-called "landslide election". The Christian Democrats lost all their seats by missing the two percent hurdle.
The 2005 Folketing election is also historic, as it was the first time a Venstre Minister of State managed to win a second consecutive election.
