Parties and candidates
As in the previous Folketing election in 1945 , the Social Democrats were led by Hans Hedtoft as the top candidate. This time he was also elected as Prime Minister on November 13, 1947 of the Danish government Hedtoft I , which ruled until October 30, 1950.
The Liberals went into the elections with Knud Kristensen as the top candidate, but this time he was not elected as Prime Minister.
The Conservatives started the race with former Defense Minister Ole Bjørn Kraft at their head. They lost 9 seats compared to the previous election, which with the communists is the biggest loss of seats.
The communists entered the race with Aksel Larsen as the top candidate. They lost 9 seats to the previous election, in which they achieved their - so far - best election result.
The Retsforbundet gained 3 seats and thus had 6 seats in the newly elected Folketing, making it the smallest parliamentary group.
