As Independent are deputies called a parliament that no political party members or without the support of a parliamentary party were elected.

Independent candidates and parliamentarians are of particular importance in countries where no political parties are allowed or where government pressure is exerted on the candidate lists. In isolated cases, independents are also a result of party withdrawals or exclusion from the party .

In some cases, independent candidates form an electoral community or other political association to increase their chances of being elected.
