Wolfgang von Haffner

Wolfgang von Haffner (born September 10, 1810 in Valby , † April 28, 1887 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish general and politician. In this function he was Minister of War , the Navy and the Interior as well as a member of the Landsting for the Højre .

Life

Wolfgang von Haffner's father was the future lieutenant general Johan Wolfgang Reinhold von Haffner (1770–1829), his mother his wife Anna Margrethe, nee. Kaasbøll (1789-1849). At the age of fifteen he became a second lieutenant à la suite in the body regiment of the cuirassiers. In 1847 he became a chamberlain . He participated voluntarily in the First Schleswig War . In 1871 he became general à la suite.

From 1866 until his death he was a member of the Landsting . From September 22, 1869 to May 28, 1870 he was Minister of the Interior of the Danish Kingdom in the Frijs cabinet and then until December 23, 1872 War and Navy Minister in the Holstein-Holsteinborg cabinet . He resigned from office due to a disagreement with Finance Minister Andreas Frederik Krieger . He held these two posts again from June 11, 1875 to July 28, 1877 in the Estrup cabinet .

Awards

In 1854 Haffner was made a knight of the Dannebrog Order , and in 1867 a Dannebrogmann . In 1870 he received the second and first class commander, and in 1875 the Grand Cross .
