JS Fibiger

Jacob Scavenius Fibiger (born January 23, 1793 in Snoghøj , † October 11, 1861 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish major general and minister of war in the Moltke III cabinet .

Life

Fibinger was born in 1793 as the son of the transport manager Gotfried Fibiger (1742–1795) and Christiane Fibiger, née Liam, in Snoghøj and grew up there. His older brother was the officer Adolph Fibiger . On April 19, 1821, Jacob Fibiger married Sophie Amalie Nielsen (* July 9, 1796; † January 22, 1868), daughter of the chaplain Ludvig Carl Nielsen (1762–1805) and his Nicoline Maria Nielsen, b. Smith (1776-1845).

1806-1811 he was an artillery cadet. In 1811 he became second lieutenant . In 1815 he passed the exam for engineering officers. In 1842 he became a major and in 1844 a lieutenant colonel . From 1848 to 1850 he was a colonel in command of the field artillery . From 1848 to 1849 he was a member of the Constituent Assembly of the Reich appointed by the King . In 1851 he was Minister of War from July 13, 1851 to October 18, 1851, and in the same year he became major general . In 1856 he became head of the artillery brigade.
