Knud Christian Rockstroh
Knud Christian Rockstroh (born December 2, 1860 in Nykøbing ; died October 1, 1942 in Copenhagen ) was a royal Danish officer and military historian .
Life
Rockstroh who is the son of master bricklayer Johann Heinrich Rockstroh (1833–1872) and his wife Anna Maria (née Møller, 1825–1927). Since his father died early, he began an apprenticeship as a bookseller before he was recruited for military service in Viborg in 1880. In 1882 he became second lieutenant and continued his military career. In 1887 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and went through the staff department of the officers' school from 1894 to 1896 . He had been a captain since 1902 and, after reaching the age limit, was captain of the reserve from 1912 to 1920.
He had already dealt with Danish military history since 1895 and published several papers on the period from 1600 to the 1900s. From 1911 to 1928 he was a member of the Commission for Historical Weapons and from 1913 to 1917 a member of the Commission for the Modification of Military Libraries. From 1901 to 1929 he also worked as a German teacher at the officers' school. His scientific publications include Udviklingen af den nationale Haer i Danmark i det 17. og 18. aarhundrede , a work on the development of the standing army in Denmark in three volumes or the biographies that he contributed to the Dansk biografisk leksikon .
Since July 17, 1889 he was married to Dagmar Eleonora (née Madsen, 1865-1929).
