Anthony "Tony" Bowditch is a retired Nauruan track and field athlete .

life and career

Bowditch won the gold medal over 1500 meters (4: 07.9 min) at the South Pacific Games in Nouméa, New Caledonia in 1966 and behind the Fijian Usaia Sotutu the silver medal over 3000 meters obstacle (10: 01.0 min). At the South Pacific Games held in Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea) in 1969 , the Nauru qualified with the fifth fastest time in the run for the final over 1500 meters, but stepped - after he had won the bronze medal over 3000 meters obstacle behind Sototu and his compatriot Nowame Vuto (10: 09.6 min) - not to the final. Bowditch also did not take part in the 5000-meter run despite reports , he could not finish the marathon . Six years later Bowditch was fourth at the 1975 South Pacific Games on Guam over 3000 meters obstacle (10: 49.6 min), in the marathon he finished ninth among 15 starters in a time of 3:03:15 hours.

Bowditch trained with long-distance runner Robert "Robbie" Morgan-Morris . It is unclear whether Bowditch (and Morgan-Morris) actually hold Nauruan citizenship .
