South Pacific Games 1969

The South Pacific Games 1969 ( English South Pacific Games 1969 ) were held from 13 to 23 August 1969 in Port Moresby , the capital of Papua New Guinea . These games were the 3rd edition of the South Pacific Games . The games were officially opened by Edward, 2nd Duke of Kent , and his wife Katharine .

The athletes fought for 286 medals in 95 competitions in athletics , basketball , boxing , netball , rugby , soccer , swimming , table tennis , tennis and volleyball . Marie-José Kersaudy , a swimmer from Team New Caledonia, was the most successful participant , as in the South Pacific Games in 1966, with another seven gold medals.
