South Pacific Games 1966
The South Pacific Games 1966 ( English South Pacific Games 1966 ) were played from 8 to 18 December 1966 in Nouméa , the capital of the French overseas territory New Caledonia . These games were the 2nd edition of the South Pacific Games .
A total of 1200 athletes from fourteen nations and territories took part. They fought for 258 medals in 86 competitions in athletics , basketball , boxing , netball , rugby , soccer , swimming , table tennis , tennis and volleyball , among others . Marie-José Kersaudy , a twelve-year-old swimmer from Team New Caledonia, was the most successful participant with seven gold medals.
