The XV. The Pacific Games took place in Port Moresby , Papua New Guinea from July 4th to 18th, 2015 . After 1969 and 1991 , Papua New Guinea hosted the competitions for the third time. 24 countries and territories participated in 28 sports.

For the first time in the history of the Games, Australia and New Zealand also took part in the Games. The member associations of the Oceania National Olympic Committee voted in July 2014 to allow the two countries to participate in a total of four sports on a trial basis: rugby 7 , weightlifting , sailing and taekwondo . So far, Australia and New Zealand had been excluded from participation because the other members feared that the two largest nations in the Pacific would dominate too much. In the mentioned sports, however, there is sufficient competition from the smaller nations. New Zealand also took part in the soccer tournament, as this also served as a qualifying tournament for the 2016 Olympic Games . However, New Zealand could not win a medal in the Pacific Games in this competition.

The most successful nation was the host Papua New Guinea, which won a total of 217 medals, including 88 gold medals.
