Mathias von Lüttichau (born December 9, 1795 in Einsidelsborg , † April 13, 1870 in Store Grundet near Vejle ) was a Danish lieutenant general and minister of war .

Life

Family and origin

Von Lüttichau came from the Meissen aristocratic family Lüttichau , his grandfather Christian Detlev von Lüttichau emigrated to Denmark in the 18th century. Mathias von Lüttichau was the only child of his father, who later became General War Commissioner, Schack von Lüttichau and his wife Anthonia, née. Lunding. Schack von Lüttichau divorced Anthonia von Lüttichau and later married Vibeke Ida Wilhelmine von Bülow , Mathias von Lüttichau's half-sister Marie Anette von Lüttichau comes from this marriage. In 1819 he inherited Store Grundet.

Military career

In 1851 von Lüttichau became chief of staff of the artillery brigade, in 1852 a real colonel, and in 1854 commander of the 1st artillery regiment. From December 12, 1854 until his replacement by Carl Lundbye on May 25, 1856 he was Minister of War in the Bang government . Four days later he was appointed major general à la suite and on October 30, 1861, he became chief of the artillery. December 13 of the same year he became a member of the Advisory Commission of the War Ministry. In 1863 he was given the character of lieutenant general and was commanding artillery officer of the mobilized army from December 25, 1863 to March 3, 1864. After de Meza's resignation, he briefly assumed command of the army.

Political career

From 1834 to 1848 von Lüttichau was a member of the Viborg assembly of estates, between 1836 and 1848 he was the conservative spokesman in the assembly of estates.

In 1848 he was a member of the Constituent Assembly . From 1851 to 1854 and from 1855 to 1864 he was a member of the Landstings' tenth district, from 1853 to 1854 he was a member of the Rigsretten (Imperial Court) and in 1854 and 1857 to 1864 the King appointed a member of the Imperial Council .
