- 1531 : In the Battle of Kappel during the religiously motivated Second Kappel War , the people of Zurich succumb to the five Catholic inner cities (Lucerne, Schwyz, Unterwalden, Uri and Zug). The reformer Ulrich Zwingli falling in the battle.
