Luciano "Faina" Favero (born October 11, 1957 in Santa Maria di Sala ( VE )) is a former Italian football player .

During his playing career he was a defender and won the European Cup with Juventus Turin in 1985 .

Career

Luciano Favero began his career in 1974/75 at Varese FC , where he indeed was in the first team, but in Serie A was not used. After that he played for years in the lower leagues. 1975/76 at Milanese in the series D and 1976/77 at Messina , 1977/78 at Salernitana Sport from 1978 to 1980 to Siracusa in the C series .

In October 1980 Favero went to Rimini Calcio , where he made his Serie B debut. A year later he finally moved to US Avellino and made his debut for the club in Serie A. In the following years he developed into a strong defender and recommended himself for higher tasks.

For the 1984/85 season Luciano Favero was signed by Juventus Turin as a replacement for Claudio Gentile . At Juve he spent five years as a regular player and gathered under coach Giovanni Trapattoni many titles, including 1985 of the European Champions Cup in the sad finale of Heysel .

In 1989 he left Juve and moved to Hellas Verona , where he finally ended his professional career at the end of the 1990/91 season. After that he only played as a hobby in the amateur classes in his home region of Veneto .
