Gilda (actually Miriam Alejandra Bianchi ; born October 11, 1961 in Buenos Aires , † September 7, 1996 ) was an Argentine cumbia singer .

Gilda was a very popular singer in Argentina and South America. She received various gold and platinum records. With the title Fuiste she had a big hit, which could also be heard in Europe. Most of their songs can be assigned to the so-called Cumbia Romántica , an Argentine modification of the Colombian cumbia that was very popular in the 1990s .

She died on September 7, 1996 in a car accident. Today in Argentina she is venerated and adored like a saint by loyal fans.

Starting with the cumbia boom in the second half of the 1990s, their music also became increasingly popular among the middle class. The Argentine writer Washington Cucurto (* 1973) refers to Gilda in his novels (including the Cumbias Noches vacías and No me arrepiento de este amor ).
