Neil Flynn
Neil Richard Flynn (born November 13, 1960 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor and comedian who is best known for his roles in the TV series Scrubs and The Middle .
life and work
Childhood and youth
Neil Flynn is of Irish descent, was born in Chicago, the third of six children and grew up in Waukegan , Illinois . There he attended Waukegan East High School , where he and his partner Mike Shklair won the 1978 Illinois Individual Events State Championship for "best humorous duo performance". After graduating from Bradley University in Peoria , Illinois, Flynn returned to Chicago in 1982 to pursue an acting career. He was particularly noticeable for his special body features such as his height of 1.96 meters and his angular face.
Career
During his time in Chicago, he worked at the Goodman and Steppenwolf theaters . For his performance in The Ballad of the Sad Cafe , Flynn received a 1986 Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actor. In addition to his work as an actor, he also appeared as a comedian in the Improv Olympic and Second City . Neil Flynn has also been working as a film actor since the mid-1980s, initially as a supporting actor in various US television series and later in major cinema productions such as The Indians of Cleveland , On the Run , Magnolia , Out of Control or Girls Club - be careful! .
From 2001, Neil Flynn played the nameless caretaker in the television series Scrubs , which earned him a high degree of popularity. He initially spoke for the role of Dr. Cox , which was later awarded to John C. McGinley , and was eventually hired as caretaker by the producers. He was originally only supposed to appear in the pilot episode My First Day , but due to the popularity of the role, he was a permanent member of Scrubs until the end of season eight . The question of the caretaker's identity runs through the entire series, and for this reason Flynn's role in On the Run was humorously incorporated into the plot. After the supposed end of the series, Neil Flynn took on the pilot for The Middle series , which was initially not implemented. Flynn then signed a contract for the ninth season of Scrubs, which has now been implemented contrary to the original plan of producer Bill Lawrence . Since The Middle was ultimately implemented as a series, he only appeared in the first episode of the ninth season of Scrubs .
Together with his Scrubs -Kollegen Zach Braff , Sarah Chalke , Judy Reyes , John C. McGinley and Bill Lawrence stepped Flynn also 2002 's biggest Muppet Christmas spectacle of all time on. 15 years after On the run , he worked eventually for the second time in 2008 Harrison Ford together when he in the film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull the FBI -Agenten Smith played.
In addition to acting, Neil Flynn is also a voice actor for various cartoon series such as Captain Buzz Lightyear - Star Command or Kim Possible , cinema productions such as Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) or video games such as the Ratchet & Clank series for PlayStation 2 . In Germany, the actor is dubbed by various colleagues, in television series such as Scrubs , The Middle or Smallville mostly by Thomas Nero Wolff .
