Undateable is an American sitcom that aired on NBC from May 29, 2014 through January 29, 2016 . The multi-camera production was developed by Adam Sztykiel and is based on the novel Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won't Be Dating Or Having Sex by Ellen Rakieten and Anne Coyle. It premiered in the United States on May 29, 2014 on NBC. The series consists of three seasons with a total of 36 episodes.
action
The focus of the series is Danny Burton, a handsome and confident guy who doesn't care what others think of him. So he decides to train a group of young men who are all out of luck with women and have not had a steady relationship for years.
production
NBC purchased the script from Bill Lawrence in October 2012 . The auditions began in early 2013. The first roles went to Brent Morin and Rick Glassman, followed by the leading roles Bianca Kajlich and Chris D'Elia . Even Matthew Wilkas was occupied for a leading role. Aly Michalka was originally cast for the role of a waitress, but Michalka left the series in April 2013. The role was replaced by Briga Heelan .
In May 2013, NBC placed a serial order for the project. Wilkas then got out and was replaced by David Fynn . Since Heelan had leading roles in the two pilots Undateable and Ground Floor and both projects went into series, she had to leave the sitcom. Her role was taken over by Megan Park . But in September of the same year, the producers announced that Heelan could play in both series due to different shooting schedules. So it came about that she was able to resume her role as Nicki in a supporting role and thus replaced Park.
Despite poor audience ratings, the television station NBC extended the series on July 31, 2014 by a second season, which consists of ten episodes. For the second season Bridgit Mendler was hired as a female lead. A double episode live was shown in May 2015 with a number of guest stars including Ed Sheeran , Zach Braff , Donald Faison , Kate Walsh , Minnie Driver and Victoria Justice .
In early May 2015, NBC extended the series with a third season, which consists entirely of live episodes. In addition, each episode was supplemented with live performances by well-known musicians at the intro and at the end. So z. B. Kodaline , Meghan Trainor , Alessia Cara and the Backstreet Boys . Since this did not improve the ratings, NBC announced the discontinuation of the series a year later.
