Ed Sheeran
Edward Christopher "Ed" Sheeran , MBE (born February 17, 1991 in Halifax , England ) is a British singer-songwriter .
Life
Ed Sheeran was founded in 1991 in Halifax in the English county of West Yorkshire born. He has an older brother who works as a composer. Sheeran's parents, John and Imogen, are from London; his paternal grandparents are Irish. The family later moved to Framlingham , Suffolk , where he attended Thomas Mills High School. He learned to play the guitar at a young age, and while he was still at school he wrote his first songs that were influenced by Van Morrison . In 2005 his first mini-album was released under the title The Orange Room EP . Two albums followed in 2006 and 2007, and in 2008 he moved to London and played in small clubs there. That same year, Sheeran took part in the casting for the unsuccessful ITV telecast Britannia High part.
After releasing another EP, You Need Me , Sheeran went on tour with Just Jack . In February 2010 his EP Loose Change was released and the rapper Example invited him to accompany him on his tour. In January 2011, Sheeran released EP No. 5 Collaborations Project , on which guest musicians like Wiley , JME, Devlin and Ghetts can be heard. It sold over 7,000 times on iTunes in the first week. He then received a recording contract with Atlantic Records . His debut single The A Team was released in June 2011 in his home country Great Britain and in November in Germany, the debut album + (pronunciation: plus ) was released in September 2011 in Great Britain and in February 2012 in Germany. After appearing on the talent show The Voice of Germany , The A Team reached number 9 in the German single charts , and the album also rose to number 12 in the charts.
At the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Sheeran interpreted the Pink Floyd song Wish You Were Here with Nick Mason from Pink Floyd , Richard Jones ( The Feeling ) and Mike Rutherford ( Genesis ) in front of an audience of millions . Also in 2012 was Everything Has Changed , written by Ed Sheeran with Taylor Swift and recorded as a duet. The song was released on Swift's album Red . In 2013 Sheeran contributed the title song I See Fire to the film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug . The piece reached top positions in the charts in many countries.
In June 2014 he released his second album with X (pronunciation: multiply ). Sing was released in advance as the first single and played as a German premiere in the finale of the show Germany's Next Topmodel . In January 2017, Sheeran released Shape of You and Castle on the Hill . While the former entered the German single charts at number 1, Castle on the Hill made it to number 2. He is the first artist who entered the single charts with two songs at the same time, at number 1 and 2. He also succeeded in doing this in the British single charts . In Austria and Switzerland, the two titles also climbed to number 1 and 2 in the single charts.
His third studio album ÷ (pronunciation: divide ) was released in March 2017. In Great Britain it sold over 670,000 times in the first week and set the record as the best-selling album by a male artist in the first week of sales. While this went from 0 to 1 in the official charts, his studio albums X and + occupied positions 4 and 5, respectively. In addition, he became the first performer to simultaneously occupy the first five positions in the British single charts. A total of nine tracks from the album made it into the top 10 on March 10, and seven more reached the top 20. Sheeran also set a new record in the German charts with six top 20 placements, and all 16 Placing titles in the charts at the same time, also in Austria. Despite four nominations, he did not win any of the main categories at the 2018 Brit Awards ; however, he received a special award for his particular worldwide success.
In 2019, Sheeran broke two more records with his Divide Tour , which has been running since 2017 . Even before its end, it was both the most commercially successful tour (with over 737 million US dollars) and the one with the most visitors (over 7.3 million). He replaced the band U2 as the record holder.
Sheeran has made regular guest appearances on television series since the beginning of his career as a musician. He was seen in 2015 in an episode of the sitcom Undateable , in the same year in five episodes of The Bastard Executioner in the role of Sir Cormac and in the summer of 2017 in an episode of Game of Thrones . Sheeran also made a guest appearance in the 2016 film Bridget Jones' Baby . On December 7, 2017, Sheeran was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire by Prince Charles . At the end of 2017, he got engaged and announced that he would marry his long-time girlfriend Cherry Seaborn in 2018. On December 22, 2019, however, he stated in his new music video for Put It All On Me that he had only married Cherry in January 2019.
