Home and Away is an Australian soap opera that has aired on Seven Network since January 17, 1988 . With more than 5000 episodes, it is the second most successful soap in Australia. The series is very popular in Australia. The series is followed by an average of 1.4 million viewers. The series has not yet been broadcast in Germany.

The stories are about several young adults between the ages of 15 and 25 and all set about the Summer Bay Caravan Park.
background
In late 1986, Alan Bateman was hired to create a pilot for a new soap opera, but it was not to become a copy by neighbors . Bateman found inspiration in Kangaroo Point, New South Wales. He saw people wanting to build a home for foster children, but the church opposed it. He took this as the basis of his soap.
When the series began, Bateman focused on Tom Fletcher and his wife, Pippa. They had four foster children, Frank Morgan, Carly Morris, Steven Matheson, Lyn Davenport, and an adopted daughter named Sally Fletcher. Bobby Simpson sponsored them, much to Donald Fisher's annoyance. They bought the caravan park with locals Ailsa Stewart, Alf Stewart, Neville and Floss McPhee.
Home and Away celebrated 21 years of production with a celebration in Sydney on July 23, 2009. The Mayor of Sydney's Pittwater Council gave the cast the keys to Palm Beach , the location of the series.
