Samara Weaving (2015)

Samara Weaving (born February 23, 1992 in Adelaide ) is an Australian actress and model .

Her first role was that of Kirsten Mulroney in the Australian-produced BBC TV series Out of the Blue . From 2009 to 2013, she played Indi Walker in Home and Away .

Adolescence

Weaving was born in Adelaide, but grew up in Singapore , Fiji and Indonesia . Her father, Simon Weaving, is a filmmaker and the Artistic Director of the Canberra International Film Festival. Her youngest sister Morgan is also an actress, and her uncle Hugo Weaving is a film and theater actor. Weaving and her family moved to Canberra in 2005 and she attended Canberra Girls Grammar School. She became an actress and appeared in various school and theater productions.

Career

Weaving's first leading role as actress was that of Kirsten Mulroney in 2008 in the Australian-British soap opera Out of the Blue . No second season was commissioned. In 2009, Weaving played as Indigo "Indi" Walker on the Australian soap opera Home and Away . It initially ran for five weeks. Weaving resumed the role the following year after producers brought her and her family back to screen as the lead role. She moved from Canberra to Sydney to film.

For her portrayal of the Indians , Weaving received an Audience Award nomination for Best Female Performance in a Television Drama at the first AACTA Awards in 2012. In July 2013, Weaving confirmed that she had directed her final scenes for Home and Away . The actress felt that with the show's international success, it was the right time for new roles. That same year she starred in the crime film Mystery Road alongside her uncle Hugo Weaving. Weaving had a recurring role as Heather in the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead in 2015. She also guested on the online series Squirrel Boys .

In 2016, Weaving starred as Brianne in the action comedy Monster Trucks . She landed the role during her first trip to Los Angeles in 2014. In 2015, Weaving starred as the title character in the comedy horror film The Babysitter , which was later released in October 2017. She appeared alongside actor Steven Yeun in the action thriller Mayhem and in the miniseries Picnic at Hanging Rock, alongside Natalie Dormer and Yael Stone . Weaving was also featured in the 2017 music video for Charlie Puth's song Attention .

She also co-starred two seasons of the comedy series SMILF, co-starring actress and producer Frankie Shaw . There were arguments with Shaw about required nude scenes, although Weaving did not have to shoot according to the contract and allegations that Shaw had undressed in front of her and about other misconduct. As a result of the incidents, Weaving left the series and it was discontinued.

Weaving started modeling for the Australian underwear brand Bonds in 2012 . During the company's first campaign in 2014, she appeared alongside surfer Owen Wright.

Online hoax

In June 2016, a Facebook user posted a photo of an injured, bloody and scratched Weaving (ignorant that she was in the picture) and captioned it: "The result of fascism in America ... just because she was a Trump supporter" . Although some news outlets made it clear that the photo was of Samara Weaving and that she wasn't actually injured (she just got makeup for her role in Ash vs Evil Dead ), many supporters of then-candidate Donald Trump were convinced that the picture was evidence of the liberal violence against Trump supporters. In support of this misinterpretation of the photo, the post was shared almost 30,000 times. To counter this misinterpretation, Ash-vs-Evil-Dead star Bruce Campbell tweeted, “Check your facts, folks. This is an actress named Samara Weaving from #AshVsEvilDead. This is a makeup test. Sad. "Weaving himself tweeted," I really hate that. "
