Picnic at Hanging Rock (TV series)
Picnic at Hanging Rock is an Australian historical drama series produced under the direction of Larysa Kondracki . It is a new adaptation of the novel of the same name by Joan Lindsay . The series focuses on the mysterious disappearance of students and a teacher from Appleyard College. The series premiered at the Berlinale 2018 in February 2018 . The international premiere took place on May 6, 2018 on the Australian TV channel Showcase. In the USA, the series started exclusively on May 25th on Amazon Prime Video . The German launch took place on May 10, 2018 on EntertainTV .

The content of the series is based on the novel of the same name by the Australian writer Joan Lindsay, published in 1967.
In 1975 the novel was adapted for the first time on film under the direction of Peter Weir . The film was released in German cinemas on July 24, 1977 under the title Picnic on Valentine's Day .
