The Babysitter is a US horror comedy by McG from the year 2017 . The film, which starred Samara Weaving , Judah Lewis , Hana Mae Lee , Robbie Amell and Bella Thorne , was released worldwide by Netflix on October 13, 2017 .

12-year-old Cole Johnson is bullied by his neighbor Jeremy, but his babysitter Bee stands up for him and scares Jeremy. The next day, after his parents left, Bee and Cole spend time together. Cole and Melanie, his neighbor and best friend, think about what the babysitters do when the kids are asleep. Melanie persuades Cole to secretly watch Bee.
That evening, Cole stays awake and sees Bee getting a visit from her friends Max, John, Allison, Sonya and Samuel. They are playing truth or dare . But when Bee kisses Samuel, she pulls two daggers from behind her back and stabs him in the head. The other youth collect Samuel's blood and reveal themselves to be members of a demonic cult.
Cole rushes to his room, where he dials 911. He puts on his shoes and finds a pocket knife. When Bee comes into his room, he pretends to be asleep. The cult members enter his room to take some blood from him. After they leave, Cole tries to escape through the window; however, he is surprised by Bee.
Bee and her friends hold Cole prisoner because they want to find out how much he knows about their actions. When the police arrive, alerted by the emergency call, Max kills one with a poker; a second shoots Allison in the upper body before he is also killed by Bee and Max. While Allison complains about being shot at, Cole runs up the stairs. John pursues him but is pushed over the railing by Cole. John lands on a trophy that pierces his neck.
Cole escapes through his bedroom window and hides in the basement under the house. When Sonya finds him, he locks her in the basement and sets off a fireworks rocket to blow her up. After appreciating Cole's ingenuity, Max chases Cole up the old tree house. Max is hanged when he falls from the tree house and his neck gets tangled in the rope swing. Cole then flees to Melanie's home.
Cole returns to his house. There he is attacked by Allison with a kitchen knife. This is shot by Bee with a shotgun. Bee explains to Cole the reason for their actions: You could get everything you want by mixing the blood of an innocent with that of the victim and dripping it on the spellbook while reciting the verses from it. Bee tries to persuade Cole to participate, but he refuses and burns the book. He runs to Melanie's house, steals her father's car and drives it into his living room, where Bee tries to extinguish the burning book. Cole manages to escape from the wreck while Bee is trapped under the car. When the police arrive, Cole tells his parents that he no longer needs a babysitter.
Later, a firefighter at Cole's house is attacked by Bee.

In October 2014, it was announced that Brian Duffield's horror comedy The Babysitter had been purchased by McG . The script was on the Black List in 2014 , the most popular but not yet filmed script .
The main roles were cast in October 2015. Filming began on October 27, 2015 in Los Angeles .
Netflix secured the national and international distribution rights to the film in December 2016 .
