Joseph McGinty Nichol , better known as McG (born August 9, 1968 in Kalamazoo , Michigan ), is an American film and television producer and director .

biography

McG attended Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach and graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

McG started out as a photographer in the music business. He photographed local bands and musicians with whom he was friends. He helped in the production of the debut album Lemonade and Brownies by Sugar Ray with. He later made music videos for well-known groups like Smash Mouth , Korn and The Offspring . He staged several commercials for Major League Baseball , Coca-Cola and the fashion chain Gap . For one of the clips he shot for Gap, he won an award at the 1999 London Film Festival .

Drew Barrymore was enthusiastic about his work and persuaded the studio bosses to hire him to direct the film 3 Angels for Charlie , the cinema remake of the famous television series of the same name from 1976 to 1981. So he had his cinema and Hollywood debut in 2000, which was not very demanding, but a commercial success. Since then, McG has worked on various television and cinema projects with varying degrees of success. The short-lived series Fastlane from 2002 to 2003 was his first television series, followed in 2003 with 3 Angels for Charlie - Full Power, the sequel to his first movie. In the same year his successful series OC, California started , 2004 ran another short-lived series with The Mountain . In 2005 and 2007 respectively, two further successful series started with Supernatural and Chuck . With your heroes came 2006, another film by McG in the cinemas.

McG also directed Terminator: Redemption , the fourth installment in the Terminator series of films. The film was released on Memorial Day in the United States on May 22, 2009 . Two more films followed with Das wird Ärger (2012) and 3 Days to Kill (2014), otherwise he works as an executive producer and director for television.
