Detective Laura Diamond (Original title: The Mysteries of Laura ) is an American crime series based on the Spanish television series Los Misterios de Laura by Carlos Vila and Javier Holgado. The adaptation was developed by these two together with Jeff Rake. The focus of the series is the police officer Laura Diamond, played by Debra Messing .
The series consists of two seasons and 38 episodes and was broadcast from September 17, 2014 to March 2, 2016 on the US broadcaster NBC .

Laura Diamond works on the NYPD Homicide Squad . Her life is made more complicated by the fact that her husband, Jake, was recently promoted to chief of the police station after the then chief of the police station was arrested for murder. Jake has cheated on Laura several times during their marriage, and he is now largely staying out of the upbringing of the two sons, which leads to various conflicts between the two. In addition, Laura struggles with her two children as they repeatedly had problems in their former preschool, from which they were expelled.

In late January 2014, NBC ordered a pilot episode of the series. Less than a month later, the central title role was filled with Emmy winner Debra Messing . Another month later, Josh Lucas was hired for the role of Messings serial husband . In early May, NBC ordered a series for the pilot. After three episodes of the series broadcast, the station ordered three more scripts for the series at the beginning of October 2014, before the number of episodes was increased from 13 to 22 at the end of October through the so-called back nine order . In May 2015, NBC ordered a second season of the series in the form of 13 more episodes. After five more scripts were commissioned in October 2015, the number of episodes was increased to 16 at the beginning of November 2015.
The first episode of the series aired on September 17, 2014 following the America's Got Talent finale , and had an audience of 10.19 million and an audience rating of 2.0. The first season finale ran on May 20, 2015. The second season was broadcast from September 23 to March 2, 2016. In May 2016, NBC announced the end of the series.
German-speaking area
