Janina Gavankar
Janina Zione Gavankar (born November 29, 1980 in Joliet , Illinois ) is an American actress and musician .
life and career
Gavankar was born in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Pete and Shan-de-Mohra Gavankar. Her father, Pete, was an Indian engineer who came to the United States for a Masters Degree . Her mother Shan-de-Mohra is of Indian- Dutch descent and also emigrated from India to the USA.
Gavankar completed her acting degree in the Department of Performing Arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She is known for her portrayal of Ms. Dewey for the experimental search engine msdewey.com of Microsoft . In the video Float Away from the album Tranqulizer by the band Recliner , Janina plays the driver of the getaway car. In the fourth season of The L Word - When Women Love Women , she took on the role of papi. From 2014 to 2016 she played the role of NYPD police officer Detective Meredith Bose in the US crime series Detective Laura Diamond . 2017 portrayed Gavankar in the fourth season of Fox - Mystery series Sleepy Hollow - an adaptation of Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - the main character of Homeland Security Agent Diana Thomas. In 2014 she also played the character Amita in the video game Far Cry 4 from Ubisoft , and in 2017 the character Iden Versio in the game Star Wars: Battlefront II from Electronic Arts and Disney .
