Sidney Hall (later the official US title The Vanishing of Sidney Hall ) is a film drama directed by Shawn Christensen , which celebrated its world premiere on January 25, 2017 as part of the Sundance Film Festival .

action

In flashbacks and flashbacks, the film tells of three phases in the life of the title character, which extend over a period of twelve years. The film shows how Sidney Hall falls in love at a young age, later becomes a successful writer and influences an entire generation, only to eventually withdraw from the public eye.

The essays by Sidney Hall, who developed a love for writing early on, meet with rejection from many in school. However, a teacher recognizes his talent and encourages him to pursue a career as a writer. Sidney's rapid success with his first novel makes Sidney a celebrity, although his dystopian reflections on Suburbia seem to have had a bad impact on some young readers, which makes his name even more popular. His novel is said to have an impact on the life of an entire generation. However, the new scandal author is surrounded by a dark secret that can be found in his past. He does not manage to stay together with his great love from childhood. Years later, when the now disaffected writer withdraws from the public, a strange detective begins to sniff around in his life.
