Nathan Lane
Nathan Lane , actually Joseph Lane , (born February 3, 1956 in Jersey City , New Jersey ) is an American musical and film actor .
Life
Nathan Lane decided to become an actor while he was a student. So after finishing college he moved to New York City . At this time he also gave up his real first name Joseph and named himself after the main character Nathan Detroit of the musical Guys and Dolls .
Lane made his first experiences in the film industry in 1981 in the television film Jacqueline Susann 's Valley of the Dolls . Further smaller television roles followed until he devoted himself more to the musical. Lane had his first Broadway role in 1991 in Terrence McNally's Lips Together, Teeth Apart . Since then he has been one of the most famous musical performers in the United States. Despite his Broadway successes, he has always remained loyal to film and television. He has been married to theater producer Devlin Elliot since 2015.
He also voiced the character Timon in the films The Lion King , The Lion King 2 - Simba's Kingdom and The Lion King 3 - Hakuna Matata .
