Astro Boy - The film is a sci-fi - computer animated film from the year 2009 , the part on Osamu Tezuka's manga Astro Boy is based.
action
Tobi, the son of Doctor Tenma, died in 2003 in an experiment with a peacemaker. Since the professor cannot get over the death of his only son, he uses the most modern technology to create a robot that is supposed to be like Tobi (he awakens Robo-Tobi with a "power", the blue-core energy). However, when he realizes that Astro Boy is not his real son and can therefore not look him in the eye, he rejects him.
The ex-mayor of Metro-City wants Tenma to deactivate the blue core in Tobi in order to destroy the robot. Tenma's friend, Doctor Elefun, hopes, however, that they won't find Astro Boy (i.e. Tobi).
Astro Boy made friends on the surface of the earth, including a. also a robot called ZOG, which he had brought back to life with the blue core energy. Hammeg (pronounced Hämäg) has found out Astro's secret and uses Astro as a killing machine for other robots in Hammeg's robot games.
In the end, the ex-mayor is absorbed by the peacemaker, who now runs on red core energy, and is born into a new monster. In the end, Astro Boy defeats the monster, but will die, because when the blue core and the red core meet, both cores will go out and they will no longer exist.
By having ZOG there, he tells that Astro made it work with some blue stuff (the blue core energy) and saves Astro just like Astro saved him. In the end, the city is attacked by aliens.

Astro Boy - The film was made at Imagi Animation Studios in Hong Kong. Director and co-writer David Bowers had already worked as co-director on the computer-animated comedy Flutsch und weg in 2006 .
Reviews
The film review by kino.de was benevolent. She describes Astro Boy as a "colorful SciFi animation adventure in a retro look". The CGI animation film cannot keep up with the standards set by Pixar . However, the look is "neat" and the action elements are fun for children. Overall, it is about "appealing family entertainment with a heart".
