Eugene Levy (born December 17, 1946 in Hamilton , Ontario ) is a Canadian actor and comedian .

life and career

Levy studied film studies with Ivan Reitman at McMaster University . Levy became known in 1976 through the Canadian comedy series Second City TV , in which Martin Short and John Candy also started their careers. Eugene Levy has appeared in more than 100 film and television productions to date. With the exception of Cannibal Girls (1973), Zwei unter Volldampf (1986), Best in Show (2000) and Cool & Fool - My partner with the big mouth (2005), he only had supporting roles. His best-known role is probably that of Noah Levenstein , father of Jim (played by Jason Biggs ) in the American Pie films. Levy is a regular at all eight American Pie pieces.

Levy worked as a director several times in the late 1980s and 1990s. With Once Upon a Murder , he directed his only movie to date in 1992. He is also active as a screenwriter. The series Schitt's Creek , which he helped to develop, has been broadcast since 2015 . His son Daniel is also involved in the development and the scripts for the series. In addition, both of his children and himself play in the series.

His German dubbing voice is that of Frank-Otto Schenk .

He has been married to Deborah Divine since 1977. With her has a son Dan and a daughter Sarah . Both are actors too.
