Original films

In the original American Pie (1999), Jim Levenstein and friends Kevin Myers, Paul Finch, and Chris Ostreicher try to lose their virginity before they graduate from high school. Jim is targeting the Czech exchange student Nadia. Kevin tries to improve his troubled relationship with Vicky, Finch spreads rumors about his male behavior, and Oz joins the school choir . Jim's attempts fail after prematurely ejaculating twice during foreplay . Instead, he tries his luck with band member Michelle and asks her if she would like to go to prom with him . After the ball, Stifler celebrates an after party. Here Jim has a one-night stand with Michelle, Kevin and Vicky have sex with each other, while Finch has sex with Stifler's mother and Oz sleeps with choir girl Heather and then has a close relationship with her. However, he does not tell the others about it.

In American Pie 2 (2001), Jim and his friends throw a party at a beach house in Grand Harbor, bringing the high school friends back together. Nadia is coming back to the US and Jim asks Michelle for advice so that he can finally have sex with Nadia. Eventually Jim realizes he's in love with Michelle and goes to one of her performances to reveal this to her.

American Pie (2003) begins with Jim proposing marriage to Michelle. Finch, Kevin and Stifler help arrange the wedding. Oz and Heather are not there this time because they are in Europe.

American Pie: The Class Reunion (2012) is about the clique's very strong friendship that they have lost sight of over the years. Jim and Michelle are now married and have one child. Kevin is a househusband, Oz is a famous sports presenter, Finch is the coolest man in the world, and Stifler is still Stifler. The 5 friends decide to have a class reunion where they can relive the old times.

Direct-to-video offshoots

Several films, following on from the first American Pie films, were released in the years that followed. The films mostly had new characters as the main actors. Aside from the vulgar humor, the basic ingredients of American Pie Presents films are the constant presence of Jim's father and members of the Stifler family. Besides Jim's father, there are also Matt Stifler and Chuck Sherman recurring characters.

American Pie Presents: The Next Generation (2005) is about Steve's younger brother Matt Stifler ( Tad Hilgenbrink ), who is forcedto attenda music camp during the summer vacation. As the film progresses, he realizes that he has to drop his arrogance in order to win over a girl named Elyse.

American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile (2006) is about Steve's cousin Erik Stifler ( John White ), the first Stifler to potentially graduate as a virgin. After a failed attempt to have sex with his girlfriend Tracy ( Jessy Schram ), she gives him a "free pass" to go to college that Dwight ( Steve Talley ) - Erik's cousin - goes to and where he lost his virginity. Erik's loyalty is put to the test.

American Pie Presents: The College Clique (2007) Starts a Bare Mile Year. Erik has graduated from high school, lost his girlfriend to her ex-boyfriend and wants to go to college. To become a member of Dwight's brotherhood , he has to complete a series of tasks and begins a new relationship with a girl - Ashley ( Meghan Heffern ).

American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009) is ten years after the events of American Pie . A fire in the school library destroys the “Book of Love” (the “Bible” from the first film). Those responsible for the destruction set out to restore the contents of the book (with the help of Mr. Levenstein, the book's creator) and lose their virginity.
