Paul John Weitz (born November 19, 1965 in New York City ) is an American screenwriter , director and film producer . He is the older brother of Chris Weitz .

Life

Paul Weitz was born in New York in 1965. In his later career choice, he followed the example of his maternal grandparents, who both worked in the film industry. Grandmother Lupita Tovar from Mexico as a film actress and grandfather Paul Kohner from the then Austro-Hungarian Teplitz- Schönau as film producer, screenwriter and agent of such great directors as John Huston , Billy Wilder and Ingmar Bergman . Paul Weitz 'mother Susan Kohner is also a film actress. His father, John Weitz, was a successful fashion designer and author.

With Antz 1998, the first film was released, based on a screenplay by Weitz. The following year he made his directorial debut with American Pie .
