A Chefsache is an American comedy film directed by Paul Weitz from 2004 .
action
Dan Foreman is 51 years old and the husband of Ann, who is expecting her third child. He heads the advertising department of a sports magazine, but is demoted after its takeover by a corporation and reports to the much younger Carter Duryea. To make matters worse, the career-minded Carter falls in love with Alex, Dan's student daughter, with whom he begins a relationship. The unsuspecting Dan senses that his daughter is moving away from him and asks Carter for advice. Carter is not committed to the relationship.
On his birthday, Dan sees Alex and Carter walking towards the house holding hands. The next day he follows Carter to a restaurant, who has arranged to meet his daughter there. He confronts his daughter and knocks Carter to the ground. Alex then breaks up with Carter, but not because she doesn't want to compromise her father, but because Carter demands a much more serious relationship, although in Alex's opinion he is still too attached to his ex-wife.
A short time later, the group owner Teddy K gives a speech in front of the assembled workforce, during which Dan directs unpleasant and direct questions about greed and dismissals. Dan is to be released - just like Carter, who is defending Dan. It later emerges that Teddy K sold the magazine. The editor-in-chief and Carter are fired by the new owner, while Dan becomes head of department again. Carter and Dan remain friends anyway.
