Scarlett Ingrid Johansson (born November 22, 1984 in New York City ) is an American - Danish actress and singer .
Life
Scarlett Johansson's Danish father Karsten is an architect , her mother Melanie Sloan comes from an Ashkenazi family of Polish-Jewish descent from the New York borough of Bronx . After her parents divorced, she lived with her father in New York for a while, then with her mother in Los Angeles . She has a twin brother (Hunter) as well as an older sister ( Vanessa ) and an older brother (Adrian). She is the granddaughter of the art historian Ejner Johansson . Her parents chose the first name Scarlett ( English scarlet "scarlet") for her after Scarlett O'Hara from the novel Gone with the Wind .
As a child she attended the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute . In 2002 she graduated from the Professional Children's School in Manhattan . Her acting career began in 1992 in Los Angeles with the Off-Broadway -Theaterstück Sophistry in which they with Ethan Hawke was on stage.
In May 2008, her engagement to actor Ryan Reynolds became known. The two married on September 27, 2008 in Canada. The divorce, announced in December 2010, was enforced in the Los Angeles County District Court on July 1, 2011.
In autumn 2011, several private photos of Johansson found their way onto the Internet. A hacker accused of the act was arrested by the FBI in October 2011 . As of August 2013, Scarlett Johansson was engaged to the French journalist Romain Dauriac. The couple have a daughter who was born in September 2014. As an actress
Johansson made her acting debut with a minor role in the 1994 film North, and then starred in supporting roles in The Swamp of Crime , When Lucy Jumps and Home Alone Again . She came into the limelight in 1996 with her first leading role in Manny & Lo , for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award the following year .
With her part in the film adaptation of the novel The Horse Whisperer by and with Robert Redford, she increased her popularity. Redford was enthusiastic about the then 14-year-old; she won the Young Star Award for the best performance by a young actress in the Drama category .
