Rebecca Hall
Rebecca Maria Hall (born May 3, 1982 in London ) is a British actress .
Life
Hall, daughter of the director Peter Hall and the opera singer Maria Ewing , studied English at the University of Cambridge . She dropped out after two years. The actress began performing as a child, including starring Tara Fitzgerald in the 1992 miniseries The Camomile Lawn , directed by her father. In 2003 she received the Ian Charleson Award for her role in the play Mrs Warren's Profession . In 2004 she was also nominated for the Ian Charleson Award for her role in As You Like It . Both plays were performed under the direction of her father.
Hall played her first adult film role in the comedy Starter for 10 (2006). In the thriller Prestige - The Masters of Magic (2006) Hall played one of the larger roles alongside Hugh Jackman , Christian Bale , Piper Perabo and Scarlett Johansson . For this role she was nominated in 2007 for the Empire Award and for the London Critics' Circle Film Award . In the comedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) by Woody Allen , she played one of the two title heroines together with Johansson and was nominated for the role of Vicky for the Golden Globe Award in the category Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical . In 2013, she starred alongside Robert Downey Jr. in the action and science fiction film Iron Man 3 .
In 2017 Hall was appointed to the competition jury of the 74th Venice International Film Festival .
