Tara Anne Cassandra Fitzgerald (born September 18, 1967 in Cuckfield , Mid Sussex , United Kingdom ) is a British actress .

Life

Tara's mother, Sarah Fitzgerald, was of Irish descent and her father, Michael Callaby, was Italian. The family moved to the Bahamas and then to London around 1970. A year later, Tara's parents separated. In 1978 the father took his own life.

Fitzgerald studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art , then she took on various jobs in Europe and continued her studies at the Drama Center London . There she learned u. a. Method acting . She made her debut as an actress in the 1990/91 film Hear my Song - A Dream Come True , in which she starred alongside Ned Beatty . In the film The Englishman Who Climbed A Hill And Came Down From A Mountain (1995) she played alongside Hugh Grant , in the film Brassed Off - With Timpani and Trumpets (1996) alongside Pete Postlethwaite and Ewan McGregor . She has also appeared in a number of plays such as Hamlet (1995, alongside Ralph Fiennes ) and Endstation Sehnsucht at Bristol Old Vic (2000).

Fitzgerald was married to actor John Sharian from 2001 to 2003 .
