Alles muss raus (original title Everything Must Go ) is an American tragic comedy by Dan Rush from 2010 .
action
The salesman Nick Halsey loses his job after many years. The former alcoholic drank heavily at a company party and has a film tear afterwards. During the dismissal interview , he learns that he has sexually molested a new colleague and that she wants to sue him. However, he can no longer remember anything. When he gets home all the locks have been changed and all his belongings are strewn on the lawn in front of the house. His wife has left him.
Completely resigned, Nick stocked up on loads of beer and camped in his armchair in front of the house. He gets to know the new pregnant neighbor Samantha, who is moving in across the street, and explains to her that he only throws away his old things and that everything is otherwise all right. He also makes the acquaintance of the black boy Kenny, who is informed about the true events. A friendship develops between Kenny and Nick, so the boy takes care of the household items when Nick is running errands. While shopping, he notices that his wife has blocked the account and credit card. So he no longer has any financial means.
Some neighbors inform the police, who forbid him to camp in front of the house. The last resort is his former godfather at Alcoholics Anonymous and now a friend of the Detective Frank Garcia family, who gives him a reprieve. He advises him to hold a flea market and thus win another three days. Nick, who is increasingly neglected, grudgingly agrees. Samantha notices that Nick wasn't telling her the truth and tries to build him up by talking to him. However, she has problems herself as her marriage to her husband is becoming increasingly problematic.
With a lot of support from Kenny, the flea market is a complete success, Nick promotes the youngster's talent for sale and parted with many old memorabilia. Nick renounces alcohol and wants to get his life under control again. Then he learns that his friend Frank is cheating on him with his wife, who meanwhile wants a divorce. It also turns out that the allegedly molested colleague wrongly accused two other men. He gives Kenny all the proceeds from the flea market and gives away the last valuable and memorable things to his neighbor and Samantha, whose husband has returned. Completely at peace with himself, he was playing his record player on the lawn when suddenly Samantha was standing in front of him. Both hug each other and are grateful to each other.
Reviews
“ Tragic comedy full of surprises, but which does not reach its full potential. Will Ferrell, meanwhile, proves his talent as a tragic hero . "
“Thoughtful tragic comedy and social satire with Will Ferrell as the man on the decline, to whom in the face of the abyss, neighbors and gracious fate rush to help. Dry humor, good messages, good guys. Perhaps Ferrell's best performance to date, because it is most demanding, is clearly aimed at sophisticated tastes, but thanks to various funny and destructive moments, it shouldn't alienate Ferrell's core supporters either.
