John William "Will" Ferrell (born July 16, 1967 in Irvine , California ) is an American film actor and film and television producer.

Life

Ferrell discovered his interest in acting while attending University High School in Irvine, California. During his daily morning announcements over the loudspeaker system of his school, Will slipped into different roles by alienating his voice. He developed his acting as a member of a Los Angeles comedy / improvisation group The Groundlings , which also included members such as Ana Gasteyer , Maya Rudolph and later Saturday Night Live actors such as Laraine Newman , Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman started their careers. It was there that Ferrell met Chris Kattan . The two became good friends and later joined the Saturday Night Live ensemble together. Will Ferrell also appeared on television shows such as Strangers with Candy , Grace and Living Single while on The Groundlings .

Ferrell starred on the comedy show Saturday Night Live from 1995 to 2002 and is one of the few members ever to be nominated for an Emmy Award (for his role as George W. Bush in the 2000 US presidential election ) on the show. During this time he played mostly in supporting roles in numerous comedies. It wasn't until 2003 that he was able to assert himself with the fantasy comedy Buddy - The Christmas Elf .

Since 2006, Ferrell has also appeared as a film and television producer. As such he was u. a. Involved in The Somewhat Different Cops (2010), Hansel and Gretel: Hexenjäger (2013) and Tammy - Voll Abfahren (2014).

In 2009, Home Box Office broadcast the television series Eastbound & Down , which he produced and in which he also took on a role for two episodes. In a special broadcast by Adventure Survival , which first aired on June 2, 2009, he accompanied presenter Bear Grylls on a survival venture in northern Sweden. Between June 2007 and June 2008, he received fees amounting to 31 million US dollars and ranked in order behind Will Smith , Johnny Depp , Eddie Murphy , Mike Myers , Leonardo DiCaprio , Bruce Willis , Ben Stiller , Adam Sandler and Nicolas Cage on place ten.

He has been married to the Swedish actress Viveca Paulin since August 12, 2000 . The couple has three sons.

Frat pack
