Owen Wilson is the middle of three sons of advertising professional Robert Andrew Wilson and his wife, photographer Laura Cunningham. Wilson grew up in Dallas. He bears his mother's maiden name as a middle name , a tradition that is widespread in the United States and other English-speaking nations. The middle name is mostly abbreviated to the so-called middle initial (Owen C. Wilson).
