Eddie Murphy
Edward "Eddie" Regan Murphy (born April 3, 1961 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American singer , actor and stand-up comedian , who is known for his quick speech. He is the younger brother of actor Charlie Murphy (1959-2017).
Live and act
The son of a policeman and a telephone operator grew up in simple circumstances. When Eddie Murphy was three years old, his parents divorced and Eddie stayed with his mother; his father was murdered five years later.
When he was 15, he first appeared as a stand-up comedian in youth centers on Long Island . After high school, he joined the New York Comic Strip Club . In 1980 he became a member of the Saturday Night Live company . He was twice nominated for an Emmy for his achievements . Even then, his trademarks were his fast speaking speed and his cheeky, disrespectful manner.
His film debut was in 1982 Murphy in the film 48 Hrs , which was a great success and he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award as Best Newcomer earned. He was finally known for starring roles in The Soldiers of Fortune , for which he received an Emmy nomination, and the films from the Beverly Hills Cop series . In 1996 he achieved great success with the film The Crazy Professor , for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. In 2007, he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for the film Dreamgirls .
2009 Murphy was in the comedy home the magic is going on (Engl. Imagine That ... ) to see. Before that, he starred in the movie Man, Dave! . The production cost 55 million US dollars and brought in just 11 million dollars in the USA. After Pluto Nash - In the Fight Against the Moon Mafia , the film is Murphy's second failure at the American box office. The film was more successful around the world, but overall it did not bring in its production costs. Even so, according to Forbes Magazine , Murphy was still one of Hollywood's top-earning actors. Between June 2007 and June 2008, he received fees of 55 million US dollars and, together with Mike Myers , ranks third behind Will Smith (80 million US dollars) and Johnny Depp (72 million US dollars).
In addition, Murphy was the voice actor for the cheeky donkey in the animated films Shrek and the sequels Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After . He had already gained experience in this field in 1998 with the film Mulan .
Eddie Murphy is also still successful as a stage comedian. His programs have been released on two albums and have received multiple Grammy awards. Two of his most successful stand-up appearances to date achieved cult status: Delirious , a 90-minute show that was recorded in Washington, DC in front of an audience of around 5,000 to 6,000, and the other was Raw , about a year and a half later in New York recorded. During these performances parodying Eddie numerous stars such as Michael Jackson , Stevie Wonder , James Brown and was a parody of a homosexual Mr. T .
Murphy released the single Party All the Time in 1985 , a composition by soul funkist Rick James ( Super Freak , 1981). The record was sold millions of times, in contrast to the follow-up single Put Your Mouth on Me . In the early 1990s, Murphy recorded with Jamaica's reggae star Shabba Ranks I Was a King .
In May 1987, Eddie Murphy was allowed to immortalize his hand and footprints in fresh concrete in the courtyard of Grauman's Chinese Theater .
The comedy Another Thousand Words was completed in 2008, but was not released into cinemas until 2012. After that he was only seen in the cinema again in 2016 with the lead role in Mr. Church . Dolemite Is My Name followed in 2019 , in which he embodies Rudy Ray Moore .
Private
Murphy has ten children. He was married to Nicole Mitchell from 1993 to 2006. They lived in New Jersey with their children . This marriage resulted in five children. The couple separated in July 2005 and the marriage ended in divorce the following year. Two sons come from other relationships. From May 2006 Murphy was in a relationship with the ex- Spice-Girl Melanie Brown alias Mel B , who had a daughter on April 3, 2007. After the relationship ended, Murphy initially denied being the father until a DNA test proved otherwise. On January 1, 2008, he married the film producer Tracey Edmonds on the beach of a private Polynesian island off Bora Bora in the South Pacific; Only two weeks later, the couple separated again: "After long deliberations and discussions, we decided together to forego an official marriage." On May 3, 2016, his friend Paige Butcher gave birth to their daughter in Los Angeles November 2018 a son. The two have been a couple since 2012.
In May 1997, Eddie Murphy was stopped by the police while driving a car with a transsexual prostitute . This incident occurred shortly before the premiere of his film The Guru and resulted in significant PR problems.
Eddie Murphy is a member of the Freemasons Association ( Hollywood Lodge No. 542 ).
