And again 48 hours ( Another 48 Hrs. ) Is an American action comedy directed by Walter Hill from 1990 . It is a sequel to the 1982 comedy Just 48 Hours .
action
The film begins with a meeting of three rockers in a remote desert bar. One of them hires the others to kill Reggie Hammond. The bar is visited by police officers who are shot by the rockers. Shortly afterwards, the bar owner is also shot.
Police investigator Jack Cates, who works in San Francisco , has been following a drug dealer who calls himself The Iceman for four years . In self-defense, Cates shoots a man whose body burns in the subsequent explosion at a gas station. The man's gun cannot be found, so Cates faces manslaughter charges.
Cates finds a burned photo of Reggie Hammond in the remains of the gas station, from which he concludes that the iceman was putting a bounty on Reggie Hammond, who is due to be released from prison the next day. He tries to convince Hammond to cooperate, but Hammond demands that Cates give him money beforehand, which he is keeping for Hammond. Cates only wants to hand over the money if Hammond helps him. When Hammond hears it, he beats up the policeman.
The bus in which Hammond is being transported is attacked by the two rockers. Before that, the rockers shoot Cates in a bar, but he is wearing a bulletproof vest. Hammond is released into the custody of the police officer and recognizes one of the attackers as Richard Ganz, whose brother Cates had killed a few years earlier. Hammond's car parked in front of Cates' house suddenly explodes as the men approach the car.
In the end, it turns out that a colleague of Cates, Ben Kehoe, is the Iceman we are looking for . Kehoe is shot dead by Cates during the showdown. Hammond later notices that Cates shot a friend , which Cates replied by saying that Hammond was his friend, not Kehoe.
Reviews
Hal Hinson wrote in the Washington Post on June 8, 1990 that the film was not a sequel to the first film, but a copy. The plot, the characters and even some scenes are the same. The only difference is that nobody seems to be having fun - which also applies to the audience. Some scenes are "uncoordinated", their direction is "slack".
The lexicon of international films judged: "Continuation of" Just 48 hours "from 1982, which after a breathtaking start with impressive camera angles and after an initial ironic treatment of the racial conflict, increasingly disappoints. Largely superficial, loud and violent. "
The editorial staff of Prisma said: “With this sequel film, the director, author and producer Walter Hill relied entirely on the tried and tested concept in the first part (...). Lots of action and good sayings ensure the best entertainment, which, however, has lost value due to the stupid synchronization. The first half an hour is best, then routine follows. "
background
The film was in San Francisco , in Los Angeles , in Folsom ( California ) and Las Vegas rotated. It grossed approximately $ 80.8 million in US cinemas .
Others
In September 2012, the BPjM removed the film from the list of media harmful to minors. A re-examination of the FSK showed a release from 16 years.
