Ted Markland
Ted Markland (born January 15, 1933 - December 18, 2011 in Yucca Valley , California ) was an American actor .
Life
Markland was born the son of a conservative Catholic colonel in the US Army . He grew up in various places in the United States . He studied acting ( drama ) at Los Angeles City College (LACC). Actor Richard Boone was one of his artistic mentors .
As a stage actor , Markland has appeared in various summer theater productions in Santa Fé , New Mexico ; he appeared in over 30 stage roles. Since the late 1950s, Markland initially worked as an actor for television ; later roles in movies were added.
He made his television debut in 1958 in the US television series The Rough Riders ; this was followed by two episode roles in the western series Have Gun - Will Travel in 1959/1960 ; with Richard Boone in the lead role. Markland also worked on Markland's career as a stand-up comedian . He has appeared in various nightclubs including the Blue Angel in New York City , the Purple Onion in San Francisco and the Troubadour in Los Angeles . Legendary comedian Lenny Bruce was his manager during this period. During one of his appearances in the Troubadour , Markland was discovered by the television producer David Dortort . There he signed up for the Western series High Chaparral . Markland played the role of the ranch worker and helper Reno in the series from 1967 to 1969. This role is considered Markland's most famous role.
Markland has also had numerous episode roles and guest roles in various American television series , including the television series Highway Patrol (1958), Mike Hammer (1959), Outlaws (1961), Bonanza (1966), Logan's Run (1977), Three Angels for Charlie (1977), Detective Rockford - Call Enough (1978), Hawaii Five-Zero (1978), Dallas (1979), Cagney & Lacey (1982), Father Murphy (1982), Knight Rider (1982), Hill Street Police Station ( 1983), The A-Team (1983), Simon & Simon (several times 1983–1987). California Clan (1988), Hunter (1991), Murder Is Her Hobby (1991), Renegade - Merciless Hunting (1994) and Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu (1994).
Since the mid-1960s, Markland was also regularly seen in the cinema . Markland was the classic supporting actor ; usually he was used as a villain, villain or other brutal, unsympathetic roles. He had his first small cinema roles as a sailor in the feature film A charming impostor (1961) and as head of the band (band master) in the western comedy Forty Wagon Westward (1965).

Private
Markland was married. His marriage took place on set while filming One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest ; Jack Nicholson was his best man. The marriage produced a son, Erin. To Markland Hobbies employment with the culture of belonging Navajo , the spirituality of the Tibetans , meditation (including in Joshua Tree National Monument National Park ), studies on flying saucers , hiking , composing and writing screenplays. He was also working on a biography on Lenny Bruce.
