Dr. Dolittle 2 is an American film comedy from Steve Carr from the year 2001 . It is a sequel to the comedy Dr. Dolittle from 1998.

Dr. John Dolittle is asked to help fight the clearing of a forest. He learns that the forest has to be protected if there are animals under species protection there. So he came up with the idea of bringing Archie, a former circus bear from a rare species , into the forest in the hope that he and Ava, who was already living there, would become a couple.
It takes a while for Ava to be convinced that Archie is a suitable partner for her. Archie is judged to be too dangerous for those around him and imprisoned. Dr. Dolittle then organized a protest in which numerous animals from all over the world took part. Most of the forest will be saved. Archie and Ava have two little bears at the end of the film.
Reviews
Desson Howe wrote in the Washington Post on June 22, 2001 that the film was a forgettable sequel to the 1998 film. Neither the film nor Eddie Murphy was funny. The critic scoffed that the best news was that the screening was over in 87 minutes.

Eddie Murphy and Raven-Symoné Pearman were nominated for the Kids' Choice Award in 2002. Kyla Pratt and Raven-Symoné Pearman were nominated for the Image Award in 2002. The film won the California Genesis Award in 2002 . David Newman won the BMI Film Music Award in 2002 . The German Film and Media Evaluation FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the title valuable.
