Lisa Kudrow
Lisa Valerie Kudrow (born July 30, 1963 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress . She is best known from the hit US sitcom Friends , although she has appeared in nearly 30 other productions. In Friends , she plays the idiosyncratic Phoebe Buffay and at the same time her twin sister Ursula , whom she also played in the series Crazy About You .
Life
Lisa Kudrow became known as Phoebe Buffay in the television sitcom Friends . For the role, Kudrow won an Emmy in 1998 for outstanding acting in a supporting role in a comedy series . In addition to three Emmy nominations, Kudrow also received nominations for the Golden Globe , Screen Actors Guild Award, and American Comedy Award .
In addition to her success on television, Kudrow received positive reviews for her film roles. Kudrow played the role of Lucia with Christina Ricci , Martin Donovan , Ivan Sergei and Lyle Lovett in the film The Opposite of Sex , the screenplay of which was written and directed by Don Ross . For this role, she received both a Best Supporting Role Award and a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award . She also played in Clockwatchers , with Toni Collette and Parker Posey . In 1997 she starred in the critically acclaimed comedy Romy and Michele starring Mira Sorvino . She starred in Albert Brooks ' comedy Mother as well as in Analyze This (Analyze this) , directed by Harold Ramis , along with Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro . In addition, she worked on Hang up! (Hanging Up) , directed by Diane Keaton and starring herself with Meg Ryan . Kudrow has always had a passion for acting but never thought of making it a career before she left college. At a young age, she often acted out scenes from her favorite films for friends and relatives. When Kudrow returned to California after college, her passion for acting flashed again. Her brother's good friend, actor and comedian Jon Lovitz , encouraged her to pursue her dream. She started with improvisation instructor Cynthia Szigeti and acting teacher Ian Tucker to work and in 1989 became a member of the famous improvisational theater group The Groundlings from Los Angeles .
Kudrow had distinguished herself by being present in two extraordinary television series at the same time. In addition to her role as Phoebe in Friends Kudrow played the lovable, but the waiter stress troubled Ursula in Mad About You (English Mad About You ). The two characters Phoebe and Ursula are twins. Lisa Kudrow appeared in Friends in individual episodes not only as Phoebe, but also as her sister. Kudrow has been married to Michel Stern since May 1995. They have a son (* 1998) together. Her pregnancy was built into Friends : As Phoebe, she carries her half-brother's triplets in the fourth to fifth seasons.
Kudrow is a graduate of Vassar College with a degree in biology .
