Albert Brooks
Albert Lawrence Brooks (born July 22, 1947 in Beverly Hills , California ; actually Albert Lawrence Einstein ) is an American actor and screenwriter .
Life
Albert Lawrence Einstein was born in Los Angeles to actress Thelma Leeds , née Goodman, and radio host Harry Einstein . His older brother was the actor and comedian Bob Einstein . His grandparents immigrated from Austria and Russia . He is Jewish himself and grew up in a show business environment. Brooks attended Beverly Hills High School with Richard Dreyfuss and Rob Reiner, who were same age . He studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and dropped out after a year. He took on a supporting role in the movie Taxi Driver (1976), in which he starred alongside Robert De Niro , Jodie Foster and Harvey Keitel .
Brooks was founded in 1988 for his role in the movie Broadcast News for the film award Oscar nomination; he won the American Comedy Award and the Boston Society of Film Critics Award . In the film Rendezvous im Jenseits (1991) he took over the direction, played the leading role and wrote the screenplay, for which he was nominated for the Saturn Award in 1992 . In the crime film Out of Sight (1998) he played the millionaire Richard Ripley , whom Jack Foley, played by George Clooney , wants to rob. He played one of the leading roles alongside Michael Douglas in the comedy An Unequal Couple (2003) .
As a screenwriter, he won the National Society of Film Critics Award for the films Upside Down America (1985) and Mother (1996) .
Brooks has been married to Kimberly Shlain since 1997 and has two children.
