Detroit Film Critics Society

The Detroit Film Critics Society (DFCS) is an organization of film critics based in Detroit , Michigan , USA . At the end of the year, shortly before Christmas, it awards film prizes in several categories.

history

The Detroit Film Critics Society was founded in early 2007 and consists of a group of more than twenty film critics who write or publish film reviews in the Detroit area (150 miles). These include, for example, critics from the cities of Ann Arbor , Grand Rapids , Kalamazoo , Lansing and Flint . As a prerequisite for membership, a film critic must have rated at least 12 films in one year and published them in well-known publications (print media, radio, television or the Internet). A maximum of two applicants will be admitted per publication. The participants are also obliged to publicly announce the winners at the end of the year. Every year, the Detroit Film Critics Society honors critics with the DFCS Awards in the categories: Best film, best director, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best ensemble, breakthrough performance (also best newcomer, debutant ,), best Screenplay and best documentary.
