David O. Russell
David Owen Russell (born August 20, 1958 in New York City , USA ) is an American director , film producer and screenwriter . His best-known films are Three Kings , The Fighter , Silver Linings , American Hustle and Joy - Anything Except Ordinary .
Life
In 1981 he finished his studies at Amherst College .
In 1995 he received two Independent Spirit Awards for his film Spanking the Monkey .
In 2008 he directed the satirical comedy Nailed with Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal , which was not completed due to financial problems.
In 2010 his film The Fighter with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale was released , which earned him an Oscar nomination for best director in 2011 . He received another nomination in this category in 2013 for Silver Linings , and he was also nominated for the best adapted screenplay that year.
David O. Russell was married from 1992 to 2007 with the producer Janet Grillo, with whom he has a son, Matthew "Matt" Grillo Russell (born March 10, 1994). This took on a small supporting role in the film Silver Linings .
