Markus Hering (born April 26, 1960 in Siegen ) is a freelance German film and theater actor and was a member of the Burgtheater for many years .

biography

Hering grew up in the Siegerland village of Holzhausen . In 1979 he passed his Abitur at the Evangelical State School at the Gate in Meinerzhagen in the same class as the diplomat Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut and the lawyer Oliver Tolmein . He then completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and worked as a forest worker.

He trained as an actor at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover . His first engagement took him to the Staatstheater Kassel . Later he was hired to Vienna . Here he played at the Schauspielhaus and the Volkstheater, among others . In the 1992–93 season he came to the Burgtheater. Until 2011 he was part of the permanent ensemble there. Since September 2011 he has been working at the Residenztheater Munich. Since 2016 guest at the Burgtheater Vienna again.

He is married and has three daughters. His wife Bettina Hering was the artistic director of the Niederösterreichisches Landestheater in St. Pölten and has been acting director of the Salzburg Festival from 2017. One daughter, Gretchen, played the role of the Infanta of the Spanish royal family in Andrea Breth's Don Carlos production and in 2014 was in Die Freischwimmerin unter der Directed by Holger Barthel, the eldest daughter Lili plays in German films every now and then (ants go other ways, etc.)

Hering is also active as a film and television actor. He played in the series Tatort , Kommissar Rex and in the films A Song of Love and Death - Gloomy Sunday , Charms Incident, Wiener Blut, Der Stellvertreter and Whiskey with Vodka . In the comedy Life is Too Long (2010) by Dani Levy , he played the leading role of Alfi Seliger . Since 2001 he has been in the ARD series Um Himmels Willen der Herr Stolpe.
