Max Mayer (* 1974 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actor .

Life

Max Mayer studied history and art history at the University of Vienna from 1992 to 1994 . He then received his acting training at the Vienna Conservatory . He completed this course in 1998 with a diploma examination.

He received his first engagement in 1998 at the Phönix Theater in Linz . This was followed by appearances in the Kabelwerk Wien, in the Fritz Rémond Theater im Zoo in Frankfurt and as composer Alexander Zemlinsky as well as in the role of Gustav Klimt in Joshua Sobol's polydrama Alma (director: Paulus Manker ) in Vienna, Venice and Lisbon. At the Wiener Festwochen in 2002 he was in the world premiere of the play Dafke !! by Barrie Kosky . Barrie Kosky also directed this production by the Wiener Schauspielhaus . He had further appearances at the Thalia Theater and at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg . From 2006 to 2008 Max Mayer was a member of the Schauspielhaus Graz ensemble . There he was, among other things, in The visit of the old lady by Friedrich Dürrenmatt , in Richard III. by William Shakespeare , in Molières Der Misanthrope , in As You Like It by Shakespeare and in Der Terrissene by Johann Nestroy .

From 2008 Max Mayer was a member of the Wiener Schauspielhaus ensemble. Here he appeared in Grillenparz by Thomas Arzt , Bruno Schulz: The Messiah by Malgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk and Wladimir Sorokin's The Day of the Opritschnik . Since the season 2014/15 he has been a permanent member at the spectacle Frankfurt , where he held am I Nijinsky . I am the death of Oliver Reese and in the title role in The resistible rise of Arturo Ui by Bertolt Brecht was seen.

Since 1999 Max Mayer has also worked regularly in television and film productions, for example in 2010 in the movie Mahler on the Couch , in which he played the theater director and writer Max Burckhard . He had guest appearances in the television series Julia - An Unusual Woman , Four Women and a Death and Commissioner Rex .

Max Mayer is the son of TV presenter Horst Friedrich Mayer .

Awards

  • 2011: Nestroy Theater Prize for his performance as a hunter named Fischer in Grillenparz by Thomas Arzt and in several roles in Bruno Schulz: The Messiah by Malgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk.
