Meret Becker (born January 15, 1969 in Bremen ) is a German theater and film actress and singer .

Live and act

Meret Becker is the daughter of Monika Hansen and Rolf Becker , the stepdaughter of Otto Sander , the sister of Ben Becker and the niece of Jonny Buchardt . Her maternal grandmother was comedian Claire Schlichting . Meret Becker grew up in Berlin and was seen on the ZDF children's program Rappelkiste at the age of five . At 16, she dropped out of school to become an actress. She had her first appearances a year later in a variety theater in Berlin-Schöneberg .

She first became known to a broader German-speaking audience through her role in Kleine Haie , where, as in the subsequent film Rossini - or the murderous question of who slept with whom, she was cast as “Cinderella”, which she herself did not bother. When asked about it in an interview , she said that she had played rich, spoiled girls, “but somehow I don't look like a rich family. It's because of the teeth, I think. They have something ratty. "

At the side of her brother Ben Becker, Meret Becker portrayed the self-destructive Nancy Spungen in his play Sid & Nancy in 1995. Becker was married to Alexander Hacke from 1996 to 2002 , with whom she has a daughter (* 1999). In the film Der Einstein des Sex (1999) by Rosa von Praunheim , she plays with her mother Monika Hansen, her brother Ben Becker and stepfather Otto Sander.

In 1998 Meret Becker dropped the covers for the November issue of Playboy .

In addition to her work as an actress and singer, she was also hired as a voice actress for the Resident Evil series . She dubbed Milla Jovovich , who played the lead role of Alice . She could also be heard in the movie Desert Flower , for which she lent her voice to Sally Hawkins .

In the film Wetlands , which came out in theaters in August 2013, she played the mother of 18-year-old Helen Memel. In the same year she was seen at the side of her brother Ben Becker in the fairy tale film The Little Mermaid in the role of the sea witch Mydra. At the beginning of February 2014 it was announced that she and Mark Waschke will be the new crime scene investigator ( Rubin and Karow ) in Berlin. In May 2019, Becker announced that she would be leaving the crime scene, which should take place in 2022.

Meret Becker was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy in 2003 and was a member of its first board. After a break, she was re-elected from 2017 to 2019 as a deputy board member of the academy for her acting section; since 2019 she has been a member of the regular board again.
